Number (N)ine was a Japanese fashion label founded by designer Takahiro Miyashita in 1997. Born in 1973 in Tokyo, Miyashita studied fashion design at Bunka Fashion College before launching his own brand at the age of 24. Number (N)ine quickly gained recognition for its unique blend of punk, rock, and streetwear influences, characterized by its edgy yet sophisticated aesthetic. Miyashita's collections often featured distressed denim, graphic tees, and tailored outerwear, showcasing his meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. The brand garnered a cult following among fashion enthusiasts drawn to its rebellious spirit and subversive designs. However, despite its initial success, Number (N)ine ceased operations in 2009, when Miyashita decided to focus on his new venture, The Soloist.
