Born November 28, 1960, in Gibraltar, Galliano's interest in fashion blossomed during his childhood in South London, where he often sketched designs and experimented with clothing. He studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, graduating in 1984 with a degree in fashion design. Galliano's talent was evident early on, earning him the prestigious British Fashion Designer of the Year award in 1987. He gained further recognition for his avant-garde designs and theatrical runway shows, characterized by elaborate costumes, historical references, and a romantic sensibility. In 1995, Galliano was appointed Creative Director of French fashion house Givenchy, where he revitalized the brand with his innovative designs and flamboyant style. He later joined Christian Dior as Creative Director in 1996, where he achieved even greater acclaim.
