Peter Murphy is best known as the lead vocalist of Bauhaus, a pioneering gothic rock band formed in 1978. Bauhaus is often credited with laying the groundwork for the goth subculture, blending elements of post-punk, glam rock, and dark atmospheres. Their music, characterized by eerie melodies and haunting lyrics, often explored themes of horror, decay, and the supernatural. This aesthetic connection to horror was reinforced by their iconic song "Bela Lugosi's Dead," which became an anthem for goths and is featured prominently in the vampire film "The Hunger" (1983). Bauhaus's influence on horror aesthetics and their association with vampires has left an indelible mark on both music and popular culture.
