Miuccia Prada, originally named Maria Bianchi, was born on May 10, 1949, in Milan, Italy. She grew up in a family deeply rooted in the fashion industry, as her grandfather, Mario Prada, founded the iconic luxury fashion house, Prada, in 1913. Despite this heritage, Miuccia initially pursued an academic career, earning a PhD in political science from the University of Milan.

In the late 1970s, Miuccia Prada made a pivotal decision to join the family business, bringing her unique perspective and creative vision to the company. Under her leadership, Prada evolved from a small leather goods manufacturer into a global fashion powerhouse, renowned for its avant-garde designs and intellectual approach to luxury.
