HISTORY
Presented in Spring/Summer 2002 under Ann Demeulemeester, this leather coat reflects the designer’s long-standing exploration of romantic austerity and controlled decay. The season continued her focus on elongated tailoring and tactile surfaces, with distressed finishes used to evoke time, wear, and fragility as intentional design elements rather than signs of age. This approach aligns with her early-2000s runway language, where rigorously structured silhouettes were softened through material treatment and patina.
