HISTORY
Introduced during the mid-2000s as part of Y-3’s experimental footwear lineup, the Kyasu Overboot exemplifies the collaboration’s early exploration of radical form and minimal function. Drawing inspiration from traditional boxing shoes, the design reflects Yohji Yamamoto’s interest in stripping footwear down to its essential structure while leveraging adidas’ technical development. The Kyasu series challenged conventional sneaker and boot categories and remains a cult archive piece within early Y-3 history.
