HISTORY
Fall/Winter 1997 under Martin Margiela presented one of the designer’s most radical reinterpretations of knitwear through artisanal construction and deconstruction. Part of the Artisanal line, this piece reflects Margiela’s conceptual approach to proportion and form, often achieved by reworking existing garments into unexpected silhouettes. The asymmetrical design disrupts conventional sweater symmetry, exemplifying the season’s exploration of altered basics and distorted tailoring.
