HISTORY
Produced for UNDERCOVER’s Spring/Summer 1999 collection, commonly referred to as the “RELIEF” period, these trousers exemplify Jun Takahashi’s early conceptual approach centered on deconstruction and reconstruction. The RELIEF collection examined the idea of garments carrying memory, achieved through over-dyeing existing forms to reveal depth, seam traces, and structural history. This process emphasized imperfection and transformation, positioning everyday clothing as a medium for artistic and social commentary during a formative era of the brand.
