HISTORY
Mid-1990s archival piece developed during Issey Miyake’s continued exploration of the relationship between body and cloth. Throughout this period, the house translated principles of traditional Japanese dress—mobility, modularity, and spatial volume—into contemporary garments. These cargo pants reinterpret military references through experimental construction, featuring circumferential round zippers above the knee that introduce transformable volume and articulation while preserving freedom of movement.
