Produced in the early 2000s, this Mombasa belt originates from the era when Tom Ford was Creative Director at Yves Saint Laurent. Introduced as part of the broader Mombasa line, the design is defined by its sculptural horn motif, a recurring symbol during Ford’s tenure that blended primitivism, sensuality, and polished glamour. While most commonly seen as handbags, belt iterations of the Mombasa design were produced in more limited quantities, making this version notably rarer. The piece reflects the period’s emphasis on statement accessories as focal points rather than accents.
